Robert Cutler is a renowned, award-winning woodturning artist whose hallmark is intricately inlaid lidded vessels. Born and raised in Alaska, Robert finds inspiration in the pristine beauty of the nature that surrounded him as a child, and dedicated his career to using Alaskan wood and materials he always loved. For his bowls, Robert uses precious and semi-precious metals as well as prehistoric materials found in Alaska. Each piece is finished with a formula he developed that seals and protects the integrity of the inlay. This finish also protects and enhances the three dimensional properties of the wood.
Robert’s works are on permanent display at the White House, the Smithsonian Institute and Detroit Institute of the Arts Bob Bohlin Collection, as well included in exhibits at American Art Company, Turned Wood del Mano Gallery and Our Turn Now Ohio Crafts Museum. Robert is a five-time winner of the People’s Choice Award in the box and container competition hosted by the Seatlle-based Northwest Gallery of Fine Woodworking.
Robert lives and works in Irrigon, Oregon USA.
