Kimura Glass Co was established in 1910 in Toyko, Japan. Shizuyo Seagusa - chief designer for Kimura Glass Company recently created the Kikatsu glassware collection.
Kikatsu is produced by only 2 artisans with the high level technique of "Edo KIRIKO". Each glass is blown by mouth and painstakingly hand etched.
Producing one glass can take up to an hour and must be done very carefully so as not to break the fragile glass. It's delicate thinness is less than 1mm.
Usually, rather traditional motifs are used for the design of glasses, in this unusual case Shizuyo took inspirations from the fine patter and splashed pattern of Kimono material and old ceramics.
Shizuyo Seagusa lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.
