Elissa Ehlin and James Leritz established Kiln Design Studio in 2002 specializing in enamelware - specifically tableware, sculpture and mobiles.

Each piece is hand made in traditions that can be traced back to the tenth-century Byzantine Empire, and popularized in the American Art Deco scene.

Kiln pieces have been featured in the San Francisco MoMA, Art Institute of Chicago and The Smithsonian. They have designed for Bergdorf Goodman, Calvin Klein and Barneys, and their pieces have also been featured in Elle Decor, Vogue, and InStyle magazine.

Kiln incorporates a modern sensibility with a strong emphasis toward the latest developments in art and product design.

Their bespoke process focuses on client context; considering factors such as client interests, place in history, geographical region, and purpose of the space, surrounding community, current creative movements and sustainability.

Elissa and James live and work in Williamsburg, Brooklyn USA.
