British designer Kate Noakes has developed a unique process of inlaying metal with gesso on to reconditioned and recycled furniture, extending the life of each piece as a desirable and functional object.
After graduating with a B.A. in fine arts, Kate sculpted with welded steel, and worked on public commission, as an artist-in-residence at a football club, and as a lecturer in sculpture.
In 2006, Kate began developing her specialized technique, making bowls, wall panels and larger sculptural forms. By 2012, she expanded her vision to include furniture, particularly reclaimed pieces. She launched her first collection later that year at Tent, part of The London Design Festival.
Kate lives and works in Cambridge, England.
