ANDREA CLAIRE STUDIO
Andrea Claire Studio, launched in 2010, merges art and design with a stunning collection of geometric, hand-made lighting fixtures and chandeliers. With a modern hanging system, the work re-imagines space and creates highly customizable large-scale light-art.
As an experienced licensed architect, Andrea has the unique ability to synthesize the requirements of both new and existing construction projects. This expertise allows the studio to work seamlessly with designers, and to create site-specific lighting pieces that are fully integrated into the architecture.
Andrea’s propriety shape, the “cubeish” – and the hanging system she developed – is influenced by her own abstract geometric paintings, as well as artists she admires such as the iconic sculptor Alexander Calder, and artist-designer Isamu Noguchi.
Andrea, a life-long maker of things crafty and artful, has worked with clay, porcelain, wood, metal, paint, and pencils since before she can remember. She holds bachelor’s degrees in both Art and Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design, and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. Before establishing Andrea Claire Studio, Andrea worked for Frank Gehry, Liz Larner, Vito Acconci, The Guggenheim Museum and the Rockwell Group, among others.
Andrea Claire Studio is based in Brooklyn, New York.
